Carol Neely

Carol Neely was born in Beaverton, Oregon, a quiet suburb of Portland.  She always loved horses and when she wasn’t riding a horse, she was drawing them.

While most of Carol’s adult life was spent as a single mom working in Corporate America, she spent her weekends hauling her son to rodeos and team roping events.  The two of them made many friends and won many awards competing.  In the summer of 2006, Carol won the ultimate prize, a four horse gooseneck horse trailer while competing against 250 other teams in the team roping event!

A bonus of traveling to rodeos and team roping were the photographs she was able to take, which have become an endless supply of ideas for her paintings.

Because she lives her art, Carol is very particular about the equipment on her horses and the details in the livestock.  Her subjects are realistic, while her backgrounds are done with a distinct and colorful palette knife style.

In 2007 Carol was an invitational artist for the Cow Palace Rodeo and Art Show in San Francisco and the featured artist at the Newberg Gallery for the month of June.  She was also accepted as an Associate Member of the unique and respected organization, Women Artists of the West.

Carol has sold many commissioned paintings and is pursuing her dreams of being in art shows and galleries while still competing in her favorite event, team roping.
